In this article I will explain some of the differences in the PQ Equipment Industry (PQEI). Lets first start by understanding that we now live in an Advanced Power world, by that I mean with all of the electronics, robotics, variable frequency drives, programmable logic controllers, as well as many other automations to help businesses operate more efficiently, safely and reliably.
The Power Quality equipment Industry is changing very rapidly to meet the needs of customers around the globe. If industries do not adapt to those changes they will quickly be left behind. I often think back to when I first began my studies of Power Quality approximately 35 years ago, and the across the line start motors, high pressure sodium lights, very few logic controlled loads, robotics were seldom seen, and harmonics were rarely an issue.
Those days are behind us, but it is nice to see how much the Power Quality equipment industry has changed in a short period of time. The term Advanced Power is a term to mean that your equipment needs Advanced Power Quality to operate properly.
